Where was he arrested: Friendship Hall, Khartoum – Sudan.

Affiliation: Independent activist and blogger.

Four weeks have passed since Mr. Tajeldeen Arja was arrested on 24 December 2013 during a conference inside the Friendship Hall, Khartoum, Sudan, where he openly criticized President Bashir of Sudan and President Deby of Chad, holding them responsible for the atrocities committed in Darfur. Tajeldeen Arja is now being held in incommunicado detention. He is at risk of torture and ill-treatment.

Sudanese Human Rights Network is deeply concerned about the continued detention of Mr. Tajeldeen Arja, and call on Sudanese authorities to immediately release Mr. Arja, since no valid legal charges have been made.

 

Recommended Action:

Please send faxes either in Arabic, English or in your own language.

  • Expressing concern at the arrest and continuing of detention of Mr. Tajeldeen Arja.
  • Urging the Sudanese authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Tajeldeen Arja.
  • Requesting assurances that he is being humanly treated, that he has immediate and regular access to his family, lawyers, and any necessary medical attention.
