Urgent Action

 

 

Throughout the previous days, the Sudanese authorities had launched an arrest campaign directed towards the representatives of the National Consensus Force delegation. They were arrested upon their return to Khartoum from Kampala, whereas they signed the New Dawn Charter, along with entities of the armed opposition- this document aims to coordinate the efforts of the Sudanese opposition to overthrow the Khartoum regime by various means-. All of the following were arrested as they returned to Sudan:

Marital Status: Married and father

Occupation: Professor at Al-ZayemAzhari University

Affiliation/Party: Democratic Unionist Party (DUP)

Date of Arrest: January/7/2013

Place of Detention:  from Khartoum International Airport upon arrival from Kampala, he was then taken to an unknown destination.

Name:Hisham Ibrahim Mufti.Age: 50.

Occupation: Architect.

Marital Status: Married and father of four.

Affiliation/Party: United Democratic Unionist Party.

Date of Arrest: January/8/2013

Place of Detention:  From his home in Al-Mamora; he was taken to an unknown destination.

  Name: Intsar Ahmed Al-AglyAge: 53

Occupation:

Affiliation/Party: Democratic Nasserist Unionist Party/Alliance of Women Politicians

Date of Arrest: January/7/2013

Place of Detention:

  Name: Dr. Abdelrahim Abduallah.Age: 64

Marital Status: Married and father.

Occupation: Pharmacist

Affiliation/Party: Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

Place of Detention: From Khartoum International Airport after arriving from Kampala; he was then taken to an unknown destination.

Marital Status:

Affiliation/Party: President of the Democratic Nasserist Unionist Party.

Place of Detention:

  Name: Abdalaziz KhalidAge: 68

Marital Status:

Affiliation/Party: Chairman of the Executive Office of the Sudanese National Alliance

Date of Arrest: January/14/2013

Place of Detention: Detained from his home

The Sudan Human Rights Network demands the Sudanese authorities to immediately release the detainees or bring them before fair trials. The Network calls upon you to send faxes or emails, whether in English, Arabic or any language to:

  • – Urge the Sudanese authorities to release all detainees immediately and unconditionally.
  • – Express great concern regarding the persistent abuses/violations of human rights, and the Sudanese authorities refraining from officially committing to international norms, conventions and treaties.
  • – Request official assurances on the health and wellbeing of detainees under the   appropriate humanitarian conditions; and to grant visitations to their lawyers and families.
  • – Require international and regional organizations to instantly intervene and appeal to the government of Sudan to stop the abuses against its citizens.
